The NAACP Louisiana State is involved throughout the community serving all parishes. Molding the civil rights leaders of tomorrow, working to enact legislation, and promoting home ownership are just some of the many areas you can engage in through our active committee structure. Criminal justice, legal redress, environmental justice, and economic development are all issues our volunteers work diligently in to enact change and progress. Be a part of the change.
A yearlong enrichment program designed to encourage high academic and cultural achievement among underserved minority high school students.
Establishes a working relationship with those governmental agencies that have the responsibility in the affairs of members of the various Armed Services.
Communications, Press, & Publicity
To promote media content consistent with fundamental NAACP goals which include the elimination of racial isolation and fear and the furtherance of multiracial and cultural understanding. We coordinate the external communications of the branch, supporting the work of each sub-committee and the branch at large.
Community Coordination
The Committee on Community Coordination enlists the support of other organizations on issues affecting the interests of African Americans and other communities of color.
The NAACP advocates for smarter, results-based criminal justice policies to keep our communities safe, including treatment for addiction and mental health problems, judicial discretion in sentencing, and an end to racial disparities at all levels of the system.
The Education Committee shall seek to eliminate segregation and other discriminatory practices in public education; study local education conditions affecting minority groups; investigate the public school system and school zoning
Economic Development
To promote the growth of entrepreneurship among African Americans, and increase employment opportunities with private and public entities. The Economic Development Committee shall implement local efforts and support national programs to preserve and expand economic empowerment among African Americans and other communities of color.
educates and mobilizes our community to address the disproportionate impact of climate change on communities of color in Cincinnati. We focus on three essential areas.
Finance
The committee studies the financial needs of the Branch and is responsible for drafting an adequate annual budget.
Freedom Fund
Plans and conducts fund-raising activities, entertainment and other projects, for local and national NAACP purposes within the scope of the NAACP's programs. Works closely with the Finance Committee.
Health
The committee shall work to promote, protect and maintain the health of African Americans and assess the health needs of the community
Housing
The Committee on Housing shall study housing conditions in the local community and receive and seek to address complaints of discrimination;
Labor & Industry
The Labor and Industry Committee shall seek ways to improve the economic status of minority groups by working to eliminate discriminatory employment practices in industry and government, wage differentials based on race, unequal opportunities for training, promotion and unfair dismissals;
Legal Redress
The Legal Redress Committee shall investigate all cases reported to it and supervise all litigation in which the Unit is interested.
Membership and Life Membership
The Membership Committee shall work throughout the year to maintain and increase the membership of the Association
Political Action
The Political Action Committee shall seek to increase registration and voting.
Religious Affairs
The Religious Affairs Committee shall include ministerial and lay religious leaders who are members of the Unit.
